The principle of the University of cooperative education DHBW Heilbronn Prof. Dr. Nicole Graf acknowledged Otto Geisel, the recently declared honorary senator: „The firstly doubted food-management study program developed especially due to engaged advocates such as Otto Geisel to a successful and requested field in our university.“ In cooperation with one of the most influencing chefs of the century Eckart Witzigmann, they developed together the bachelor study program „Food Management“ in 2007. Especially Otto Geisel fought against doubts of the relevance of the subject and won crucial supporter on a political and entrepreneurial side. He made use of his expertise and through his engagement the study program became well demanded, attracting 140 students yearly. In the meantime, the study program has 300 partner companies in the back. This achievement made him in 2018 to a honorary senator which is the highest award, that is assigned by the university.
